once every 4 years

so my friend jamie & i went to the mall today with our kids. sounds simple, right? i thought so too. jamie has an 18 month old daughter, lydia, and also brought her 2 1/2 yr. old niece savannah. savannah was extremely cute but i think she may not have eaten enough for breakfast. i only say that because she tried to eat one of lydia's hands. ok well she just bit her. it was pretty sad, poor lydia tried to figure out what had just happened to her as the welts started to rise.

caleb is not what we would call a social child. he has to be "eased" into situations & is very leery of kids until he warms up to them. after the vampire incident with savannah, caleb had good reason to want to stay away. heaven knows that even i, being a capable adult, kept a close eye on that child.

when we got to the mall (the AWESOME southpoint mall about 10 mins. away from home) there is a huge playplace that is usually pretty much empty. except apparently for leap day. who knew that once every 4 years every school decided to drop off their 1st & 2nd grade students to terrorize the younger crowd. i saved caleb's life several times. ok well leap day was the only reason i could come up with that would justify the large crowds we encountered. there was probably around 45-50 kids running, jumping & screaming. it was a nightmare. i don't know why we didn't take one look, turn around & go back home or just head to the nearest park. but anyway, it's over, we're all in one piece. although lydia may have to get a rabies shot. just kidding. here are some pictures i was able to take. and now i will start to emotionally gear up for the same adventure in another 4 years...it will probably take that long to convince me to do it again!

the vampire. she may look cute but don't be fooled.

the victim.

the only kid caleb didn't mind being close to today.

action shot.

lydia down the slide.

Ethan has the same shirt as Caleb...those boys have some Stylish mamas! I remember biting my sister once when I was little and my grandma yelling, "Stop that your gonna give her rabies!"

Hey! Cool you found our website and commented so I thought I'd do the same on yours. Caleb is super cute. Unfortnately, we have the opposite problem with Aden in that he thinks any and everyone is his friend. The boy has no concept of strangers or staying close to mom. :)

Obviously Caleb doesn't have either parents love for other people. It must be because you didn't ever let him live in Idaho.

Cute little kiddos. So glad we avoided having "biters". Mine are crazy enough with out that little trait.

Yesterday Jakey asked Danny how you spell "enough". except he says it "a-nuff", so he said- what comes after "a", and when we try to spell e-n-o-u-g-h to him, he's like "no!?!.. a-nuff".

I share this as a cute little tidbit that even crazy kids have sweet moments in them.

I avoid all public child-infested places when the elementaries have a day off school (which they all did on Friday for no good reason). The playground is tough place for toddlers! Cutie pics of my bud, Caleb! Can't wait to chill with him in less than two weeks!
